3 men caught in act of stealing inside Marikina home

MANILA, Philippines—Three men were arrested in Marikina City on Wednesday afternoon after a resident allegedly caught them inside her house stealing her valuables.

The suspects, Mario Tolentino, 39; J-cee Mendoza, 27; and Randy Marcellano, 30, all residents of Pasig City, were taken into police custody pending the robbery charges to be filed at the City Prosecutor’s Office.

According to a report submitted to the Eastern Police District (EPD), the victim, Elizabeth Malgabo, a 49-year-old businesswoman, and her son chanced upon the robbers who had broken into their house in SSS Village in Barangay (village) Concepcion Dos in Marikina City around 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday.

Upon seeing the house owners, the robbers hurried to escape and run away from them but the son of Malgabo caught up with them after giving chase.

The barangay watchmen patrolling in the area also helped in the arrest.

Recovered from the suspects were a laptop worth P50,000 and the tools used to break the lock of the main door.

Police Officer 1 Gaby Capinpin of the EPD’s Public Information Office said the police had invited previous victims to check if the arrested suspects had also robbed them.
