More than 20,000 pass August 2018 civil service exams
A total of 22,087 examinees passed the August 12 Career Service Professional and Subprofessional examinations, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said on Wednesday.
Of the 159,283 examinees who took the Professional category exam, 19,510 passed with a passing rate of 12.25 percent. This was higher compared to the May 2018 examinations, where only 10.71 percent passed.
For the Subprofessional category, 2,577 out of 22,708 examinees hurdled the exams, translating to an 11.35 percent passing rate, slightly higher than the previous 11.20 percent rate.

These numbers however, do not include results from the National Capital Region and in Morong, Rizal, where the civil service exams were suspended because of heavy rain brought by the southwest monsoon.
According to the CSC, an examinee from Central Visayas got the highest mark for the Professional examination with 92.35 percent, while an examinee from Southern Tagalog got the highest rating for the Subprofessional category at 90.78 percent.
The CSC also added that the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had the highest passing rate at 18.20 percent, where 1,086 of 5,968 examinees passed. The CAR is followed by Central Luzon (16.41 percent), Southern Tagalog (15.61 percent), Central Visayas (14.32 percent), and Western Visayas (14.04 percent).

Professional level passers will be given the Civil Service Professional Eligibility, which would allow them to occupy both first level (clerical) and second level (technical) positions in government. Subprofessional level passers can only apply for the first level positions.
Passers may also be appointed to positions in government provided that these does not necessitate the practice of a particular profession or are not covered by special laws. Aside from these, they should also meet the educational, experience, and training requirements of the respective posts.
Passers are advised to coordinate with the CSC Regional Offices regarding the requirements and procedure in claiming their Certification of Eligibility (COE).
The next pen and paper tests for both the Professional and Subprofessional examinations will be on March 17, 2019. Interested applicants may file their applications from December 17, 2018 to January 16, 2019 at any CSC Regional Office or field offices.
