Duterte wants no arrest for Trillanes unless court issues warrant — Palace

AMMAN – President Rodrigo Duterte will “abide by the rule of law” and will wait for the issuance of a warrant of arrest before Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV is arrested, Malacañang said Friday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte held a Cabinet meeting on Thursday night to consult his Cabinet members here on the issue of the revocation of the amnesty of Trillanes.

“At matapos po ang mahabang talakayan, nagdesisyun po ang Presidente that he will abide with the rule of law. Aantayin po niya ang desisyon ng hukuman, ng Regional Trial Court, kung sila po ay mag-iisyu ng warrant of arrest,” Roque said in a press briefing here.

“So uulitin ko po, ang desisyon ni Presidente is he will allow the judicial process to proceed and he will await the issuance of the proper warrant of arrest,” he added.   /vvp
