3 Chinese nationals kidnap fellow Chinese in Makati

Three Chinese nationals were arrested by the police Tuesday for kidnapping a fellow Chinese man in Makati City.

Suspects identified as Wana Ping, Yuan Jun, and He Ping, allegedly kidnapped a certain Chao Yu, from his house along Chino Roces Avenue in Barangay Pio Del Pilar, a report from the Makati City Police on Wednesday showed.

The three suspects, who are in the country as tourists, demanded P300,000 as ransom for Yu, police said.

A friend of the victim reported the incident to authorities, which led to the arrest of the suspects in a condominium along Chino Roces Avenue.

Also recovered from the suspects is the P100,000 initial ransom given by Yu’s relatives, according to the report.

The suspects face kidnapping for ransom charges and will undergo inquest proceedings on Wednesday. /cbb
