DAGUPAN CITY — A road rage resulted in the killing of two men and the wounding of two others on Monday (Aug. 20) at a village road in Bolinao town in Pangasinan province.

Remark Gatchalian, 30, and Melgar Lagare, 26, did not reach the hospital alive due to severe hack wounds, said Bolinao police investigator PO3 Rey Mendoza.

Gatchalian’s group were on their way home at 11:40 a.m. aboard a tricycle driven by Renante Quebada, 31, when they came across an improperly parked truck that was blocking their way in Barangay (village) Balingasay.

Gatchalian and Quebada asked the truck driver, Ramil de Vera, to move the truck to the side of the road. But as De Vera boarded his truck, someone laughed.

A heated exchange and a fistfight ensued, prompting De Vera’s companion, Arman Capeña, to alight from the truck and attack Gatchalian’s group with a bolo.

Gatchalian’s brother, Richard, 29, and Mark Anthony Dulay, 23, were injured and were being treated in a hospital.

Quebada was unhurt, according to Mendoza, because he was able to run away.

De Vera and Capeña drove off but the police caught up with them in Barangay Arnedo.
