Live power cable kills worker, hurts 5 others in Isabela

GAMU, ISABELA – Six construction workers repairing the Gamu Bridge were electrocuted, killing one of them, at 9 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 4), police said.

Jimmy Dela Cruz, Rolando Rico, Jorrel Espero, Darell Rodriguez, Michael Equila and Raymond Lagutao, all crew members of the Alphatec Chemical Engineering Company were dismantling the pipe braces of a platform when one of the pipes touched a dangling electric wire in Barangay (village) Upi.

Rescuers brought them to the Faustino Dy Sr. Memorial Hospital in Ilagan City where Dela Cruz was declared dead on arrival. The five others are recuperating from burn injuries. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
