5 die in Batangas shootout

SAN PEDRO CITY – Five men tagged as members of a robbery and illegal drug group were killed in a shootout with the police in Nasugbu town in Batangas province early on Wednesday.

Information coming from the Nasugbu police said the shootout happened about 6 a.m. at Sitio (sub-village) Palakulan in Barangay (village) Wawa.

In a text message, Batangas police director Sr. Supt. Edwin Quilates said police were supposed to implement a search warrant against the group but it led to a gunfight.

Police have yet to identify the slain men as investigators are still on the scene as of the moment. /cbb
