Give me 48 hours, I’ll sign BOL – Duterte

“Give me 48 hours and I will sign the law (Bangsamoro Organic Law).”

President Rodrigo Duterte vowed this during his third State of the Nation Address (Sona) at a joint session of Congress at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City on Monday.

“Despite all that has been said against the Bangsamoro Organic Law by all sectoral groups, I made a solemn commitment to never deny our Muslim brothers and sisters the basic legal tools they needed to chart their own destinies within the constitutional framework of our country,” he said.

“When the approved version is received by my office, the law has been passed actually, and give me 48 hours to sign it and ratify the law. Babasahin ko pa bago ko pirmahan baka may isiningit kayo dyan na hindi maganda para sa ibang tao,” he added.

Senate had already ratified the bicameral version of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) but the House of Representatives earlier failed to do so after it unexpectedly adjourned its session earlier in the day amid brewing change of leadership at the chamber.
