Mobile phone signal will be jammed in QC, nearby areas during Sona

Cellular phone signal will be jammed on Monday afternoon during the State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Rodrigo Duterte.

In an advisory, the National Telecommunications Commision (NTC) confirmed that there would be “a temporary loss of mobile telecom services” at the House of Representatives and nearby areas during Sona.

“In compliance with the order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), there will be a temporary loss of mobile telecom services in Quezon City and neighboring areas during the 2018 State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Duterte today from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.,” NTC said.

In a text message, Presidential Security Group (PSG) Chief Col. Colonel Jim Niembra explained that signal would be jammed upon the President’s arrival and departure but there would be mobile signal during the President’s speech.

“[During the President’s] speech may signal. No signal lang upon the president’s arrival and departure,” Niembra said.  /vvp
