Man nabbed for child trafficking in Laguna

Mark Christian Catley, 45, who reportedly also used the aliases Dino Ferrari and William Modena, was arrested around 10 p.m. Friday during an entrapment operation inside a hotel in Sto. Tomas town Batangas province, where the suspect allegedly checked-in with his two victims.
Chief Inspector John Paras, chief of the police Anti-Cyber Crime Office in Calabarzon, said the case stemmed from the complaint of a mother, whose two children, both female, aged 14 and 15, fell victims to Catley.
“According to the victims, (Catley) would take nude photos of them and
sometimes have sex with them, and post the pictures online,” Paras said in a phone interview Saturday.
Paras said the suspect was allegedly behind a pornographic site called “bebots only” that catered to pedophiles abroad.
Police on Friday evening tracked down the suspect who took his victims for dinner in a fast food chain before checking in at the hotel.
“When we came in, he and the girls were all naked,” Paras said.
He said the suspect, who lived in Calamba City in Laguna, targeted mostly “poor girls” in the city and adjacent municipalities. Catley allegedly gave his victims P150 cash as payment and asked them to “recruit” more young girls.
“For instance, one of his victims was a daughter of a laundrywoman whose father was in jail,” Paras added.
The police charged Catley with multiple counts of rape, cyber crime, and human trafficking. /lb
