The Metro Manila Shake Drill scheduled anytime for this week will push through despite rains, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Tuesday.

MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said during a news conference that the earthquake drill would continue amid inclement weather.

“Rain or shine, the shake drill will proceed,” Garcia said.

“We can do the shake drill the easiest way possible but what if an earthquake happens on a critical time? This way we can prepare for the worst case possible,” he added.

Setting the shake drill in a rainy day would allow the MMDA and the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRC) to prepare for the worst case situations, Garcia said.

He also warned the public of heavier traffic as the drill is happening. /je
