Man hacks wife before committing suicide in Camarines Sur

NAGA CITY— A man hanged himself after hacking his wife in the middle of a heated argument in their home in San Fernando town, Camarines Sur, police said Sunday.

According to the San Fernando police, Joel Marco, 38, and his wife Vivian, 36, started fighting at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night. The cause of the fight is unknown.

Police said Marco hacked the victim on the head using a “bolo” (large knife) then tied a rope around his neck and hanged himself.

Vivian, who sustained a wound on the head, survived and is now being treated at the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City. /ee
