Road repair jobs to stall weekend traffic

The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region has advised motorists to expect traffic build-up in some sections of national roads in five cities in Metro Manila that would be undergoing repair and improvement works starting this weekend until Monday.

In an advisory, the DPWH said concrete reblocking and asphalt overlay activities which began 10 p.m. Friday night until 4 a.m. on Monday, would affect vehicular traffic flow.

In Quezon City: Edsa north-bound lane going to Monumento, 4th lane from center island between Arellano and Ponce Street; and Edsa southbound from in front of JAC to in front of Track City; before Waltermart to Abenson; in front of Panorama; in front of 1009; in front of Hope Christian Academy; and in front of the Hope Leadership Institute;

Commonwealth Avenue in front of the road going to UP Diliman, in front of Technohub, IBP Road and BF, and Don Antonio Heights to Nissan Center.

Katipunan Avenue-C-5 intersection southbound, going to Ortigas Avenue from the 2nd lane from center island between Sunrise and Rajah Matanda Streets, and between Poseidon Street and Green Meadows Avenue.

In Muntinlupa City: The viaduct section of the ground level of the Manila South Road in Alabang, between L & B Compound to the taxi terminal.

In Las Piñas City: Asphalt overlay of the eastbound lane of the Zapote Flyover, including its approaches.

In San Juan City: Right inner lane of Santolan Road between 3rd West Crame and 4th West Crame and between Km. 10+180 to Km. 10+191.40; and the left inner lane of Santolan Road between 3rd West Crame and 4th West Crame, Km. 10+209.50 to Km. 10+223; before and after 3rd West Crame, and Km. 10+254.70 to Km. 10 + 282.20.

In Taguig City: C-5 Road between the Libingan ng mga Bayani Road and East Service Road.

Meanwhile the construction of the underpass along Quezon Avenue crossing C-3 Road (G. Araneta Avenue) in Quezon City has already posted 33 percent accomplishment, more than 150 days when the project commenced last June.

With the expected traffic buildup near the intersection, Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson advised motorists to take alternate routes mapped out by the MMDA and the QC department of public order and safety.
