Sketch of suspect in dentists’ rob-rape out

Manila policemen are looking at the possibility that the suspect behind Thursday’s robbery at a dental clinic, where one of the two female dentists was raped, had been responsible for at least two other similar incidents in Quezon City.

The Manila Police District Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk (MPD-WCPD) released yesterday an artist’s sketch of the robber-rapist who posed as a patient and preyed Thursday afternoon on the dentists at a dental clinic in Paco, Manila, carting away more than P200,000 cash and belongings.

MPD-WCPD head Chief Inspector Anita Araullo told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that immediately after the crime was reported, she was informed by Quezon City law enforcers that two or three similar incidents had occurred in the locality.

“They have to check the records of the previous cases but they told me that the suspect in the other incidents also robbed and raped the female victims, who are also workers in a dental clinic,” Araullo pointed out.

She added that in the previous cases, the suspect had also availed of dental services before robbing and raping the victims.

“We have to verify the information and see if the other victims could identify the suspect through the artist’s sketch we have,” Araullo stressed.

She theorized that the suspect could have simply transferred his activities from Quezon City to Manila to escape detection and arrest.

The suspect was described to be between 30 and 35 years old, about five-foot-six tall, of medium build and dark-skinned.

Araullo said the suspect had signed the name “Alvin Maliwat” on the patient’s record sheet and claimed to be a resident of Paco when he went to the dental clinic on Thursday afternoon.

After he had his teeth cleaned, he hogtied and robbed the two dentists of more than P200,000 worth of cash and belongings before raping one of them inside their clinic.
