Bodies of 2 boys recovered in Lake Buhi

NAGA CITY – Rescuers have recovered on Tuesday morning the bodies of two boys, who were reported missing after their motorized boat capsized in Lake Buhi in Buhi town, Camarines Sur on Sunday, police said.

The bodies of Joshua Bejerano, 12, and Jonas Menorca, 6, were recovered in
Barangay Ipil, around 7 a.m., SPO2 Emma Buen, chief investigator of the Buhi police, said,

The bodies were found about eight kilometers away from Barangay San Buena, where the boat sank.

This brings the total number of fatalities to five, after three were initially confirmed dead on Sunday night.

They were earlier identified as: Soledad Siocson, 58; Liza Siocson,
48; and Gabriel Bejerano, 3.

Buen said that based on initial investigation, the boat, which was carrying 12 family members, was overloaded. It also had a hole, which caused the water to seep in.

Seven of the passengers were rescued, she said.
