Legarda’s chief of staff dies in Australia car crash

Senator Loren Legarda’s Chief of Staff died Saturday due to a car accident in Perth, Australia.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Legarda announced the death of Yvonne Geston, whom she described as a “true and loyal friend.”

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the sudden demise of our Chief of Staff, Yvonne Geston, who passed away in a car accident in Perth, Australia last Saturday, 7 July 2018,” Legarda posted.

“Yvonne had been a true and loyal friend, a dedicated and hardworking colleague, an honest and strong person, a firm and steadfast leader. She was kind, caring, patient and selfless. Her positivity, devotion to duty, cheerfulness and generosity of heart will surely be missed,” the senator also said.

Geston was Legarda’s Chief of Staff for 20 years, according to the senator’s separate post.

Legard said Masses would be offered for Geston on July 10 and July 16 at the Senate Chapel. /kga
