Teen mauled to death by schoolmate in Oriental Mindoro town

CITY OF CALAPAN – A 15-year-old Grade 7 pupil died allegedly from mauling by a Grade 10 student at a high school in Victoria town in Oriental Mindoro province, police said Friday.

Supt. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) police information officer, said the victim was attacked by the suspect in the school at Barangay (village) Leido, according to a witness who was also a Grade 9 student.

The witness, who was also 15 years old, was watching badminton and volleyball games inside the campus when he saw the suspect arrive and hit the victim several times in the head around 4:45 p.m. He then saw the victim fall to the ground unconscious.

The victim died while being taken to the hospital.

Tolentino said the minor-aged suspect was arrested by police and turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
