Man nabbed for smoking in public yields marijuana in Makati

02:49 PM July 04, 2018

After being collared for violating a Makati City ordinance against smoking in public, a man is now in deeper trouble after he was caught trying to put away a sachet of marijuana by tossing it on the street while on their way to the precinct.

In a police report, suspect John Mark Bristol, 21, resident of Aguila Street in Barangay Rizal, was initially arrested for smoking in public. But while in the patrol car, an officer noticed Bristol threw an object out of the vehicle, as they traveled along Milkweed Street also in Barangay Rizal. This prompted authorities to stop and recover the object, which was later found to be a sachet of marijuana.

Instead of being booked for a simple city ordinance, Bristol may now face charges in violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Bristol was brought to Makati City’s Police Community Precinct 10 for documentation. He was also brought to the Ospital ng Makati for medical examination and drug test.  Alyssa Javier, INQUIRER.net intern
