LEGAZPI CITY – A newly elected village chief in Sorsogon City was arrested by anti-narcotics operatives in a buy-bust operation on Friday afternoon in Sorsogon City, a report reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol said on Saturday.

Arrested was Misael Hebres Larosa, alias “Boboy,” 48, village chief of Sampaloc and ranked no. 3 in the provincial drug watchlist, according to Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.

The suspect was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Friday after he sold a sachet containing suspected shabu (crystal meth) to a police posing as a buyer in his own village, the report said.

Authorities are preparing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the suspect. MAR S. ARGUELLES
