LEGAZPI CITY – Two suspected members of a robbery and hold up group were killed in a shootout with authorities in Tinambac town, Camarines Sur early Friday morning, police said.

Bicol police spokesperson Sr. Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib identified those killed as Enrique Sta. Ana and Jonald Llames, alleged members of the Sta. Ana robbery hold-up group, a criminal gang operating in Camarines Sur.

Police operatives armed with a search warrant were approaching the safehouse of the suspects in Barangay Bagacay around 2:15 a.m. when the suspects suddenly fired at them. A brief firefight ensued and resulted in the death of the two gang members.

Police said operatives were tracking down other members of the criminal group who were facing charges of illegal drug trade and illegal possession of  firearms and ammunition.  /kga
