Ester slows down

The state weather bureau earlier raised a typhoon signal over the Batanes island but eventually lifted the signal as Ester slowed down.

Ester is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.  /vvp
